Google published a blog post says all the non HTTPS website will mark as insecure by chrome browser starting from July 2018. Reportedly saying that the ranks will increase if your website is using HTTPS secure urls.
According to the blog post,
- Over 68% of Chrome traffic on both Android and Windows is now protected
- Over 78% of Chrome traffic on both Chrome OS and Mac is now protected
- 81 of the top 100 sites on the web use HTTPS by default
Google is planning for years in order to make the web more secure with ssl certificates. Developers from around the world is in hurry to change their websites SSL compliant. Depending upon the size of the website, this procedure is quite a lot of work for companies.
The other reason Google is dragging the web towards HTTPS is to support its push for developers to adopt progressive web apps through JavaScript ‘service workers’.
